Privacy Policy

Sam is a devotional companion app for Scripture, prayer, and reflection. This policy explains what information Sam collects, how it’s used, and who it’s shared with. By using Sam, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address to create your account.

Faith Profile. During onboarding (and any time you update it in Settings), you tell Sam things like your denomination, life stage, current life circumstances, faith journey stage, Bible familiarity, relationship status, and what brought you to the app. This is used to personalize what Sam shows and says to you.

Content you create. This includes your daily focus entries, chat conversations with Sam, Share & Pray submissions, prayer list and journal entries, weekly reflections, memory verse progress, and any custom reading plans you ask Sam to build. This content is stored in our database (Google Firebase/Firestore) tied to your account.

Usage information. We track things like your daily streak, Points balance, and Premium subscription status so the app’s features work correctly.

Push notification token. If you enable reminders, we store a device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) used only to deliver your reading/prayer reminder at the time you choose.

Sam relies on a few outside services to work. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:

• Groq — generates your personalized readings, chat replies, and prayers. To do this, Groq receives the relevant parts of your Faith Profile and whatever you type into Chat or Share & Pray.
• Google Firebase — handles sign-in, our database, backend functions, hosting, and push notifications.
• RevenueCat — manages Sam Premium subscriptions and Points purchases; we don’t see or store your payment card details.
• Google AdMob — shows optional rewarded ads to free-tier users who choose to watch one for Points. AdMob may use device/advertising identifiers under Google’s own ad policies.
• Apple / Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, those providers authenticate you and share your name/email with us as permitted by your account settings.

We use the information above to: personalize your daily readings, chat replies, and prayers; keep your account, streak, Points, and subscription in sync across devices; send reminders you’ve asked for; process purchases; and keep the app secure and working correctly. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time — see our Delete Your Account page for how.

Sam is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we’ll remove it.

You can review and update most of your Faith Profile directly in Settings at any time. You can request a copy of your data or its deletion by contacting us below.

We use industry-standard safeguards (including Firebase’s security infrastructure and access controls) to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above when we do, and material changes will be highlighted in the app.
